Imaginary Tennis

The boys LOVE the Wii they got for Christmas. Sometimes they practice during the week without the console, which they can only play on Saturdays. Just keeping up the skill.

I think it's interesting they chose to play imaginary doubles. Wouldn't it be easier to be playing against each other. It would be hard to both be imagining the same opponents' play. They just aren't lazy, I guess.

Happy Half-Birthday Austin

Sweet boy is 6 months old!
He was sitting a little close to the cake which was very funny to the big boys.
This is what happens when the cake is frosted while it is still warm. I have 6 months to perfect the cake. This is like my trial run.
It wouldn't stop falling off the stand. This poor cake was scraped off the counter at least 3 times.

Deep Seeded Issues

Mason is learning how to write story problems in math.

"My mom bied a phrit then we selid my phrit. How mane phrit do I have?
1-1=0"
(Note: All words are spelled funeticle in 1st grade)

Is someone a little angry about losing his parrot?

Not the Sharpest Pencil in the Box

Carter followed behind Grandma yesterday and taunted her by saying, "Who's behind you?"
Grandma played along saying, "Is it Mason?"
Carter--"No, it's not Mason."
Grandma--"Is it Matthew?"
Carter--"No, it's not Matthew."
Grandma--"Is it Carter?"
Carter--"No, it's not me."

We're working on things.

Scripture Power

Grandma C gave us a challenge this year to read the Book of Mormon as a family. Then we are to video tape our favorite story acted out. I'll be holding the video camera.
We thought this would be a great thing to do before Mason gets baptized this summer. I bought the cheap, soft-covered books. Mom provided marking pencils.
Explaining marking pencils to children is difficult. We tried to tell them that if a scripture really "stood out" at them or really "touched" them somehow to "mark" it. This was a long conversation as those marked in quotes needed further explanation.
As we read, 4 little arms were furiously marking their scriptures and it didn't end until the end of the chapter. They're so close to the spirit. Everything touched them.

Messy Rice

I love spoon-training. It's my favorite.
Austin is trying to figure it out on his own. He doesn't like me to help.

French Fries, Anyone?

I had a bone spur removed from the bottom of my 2nd toe because it was very painful. Guess what else is painful. Surgery to remove bone spurs. Rob says that any normal person would have only 3-4 stitches but because I have long french fry toes I got 6.
